The home cinema business has grown significantly in recent years becoming a global business with hotspots located around the world in major cities and spaces where people go to relax and recharge. Our team has worked on many projects outside of the UK adding to our knowledge of the market right around the planet and our ability to find the best solution for each project. 

Every market has its idiosyncrasies, character and market drivers, but what remains the same no matter where you are is the techniques, approaches and planning needed to create a world-class home cinema. The way that a high-performance home cinema operator approaches a project does not change based on the location; the laws that govern performance remain the same, so does the importance of aesthetics, ease of use and calibration at the handover stage to ensure everything is as it should be.

There are several reasons why this might be necessary. The customer may live in an area where the market is not yet mature enough to have an installer working at the right level, it might not have one at all! Occasionally we will also have existing customers who want one of our cinemas in a location, say in a holiday home in a different country. They are keen to retain and repeat the experience they had with Prestige Audio, so it makes sense to employ the same firm to oversee the project. 

How do we deal with the distance?

Another factor in many of these cases of course is the fact that the distances needed to travel, and all the logistics associated with staying on site for weeks at a time, just make this option impractical. It is a better route for Prestige to plan and oversee the project with local contractors following strict guidelines to execute the install. 

The usual process for a project such as this starts in exactly the same way as all of our cinemas, we sit down with the customer and ascertain exactly what their wants, needs and desires are. We prefer to do this in person, but making use of modern digital communication platforms is also an option. 

Using what we know about the space the cinema is to be installed in we draw up detailed plans to be approved by the customer and any other contractors they might be working with including builders, developers or interior design companies. A reliable contractor is then found to carry out the day-to-day work of physically installing the system, we are on call to help them with any issues or questions they have and at set times during the install we visit the site to make sure everything is progressing as it should. Once the project is installed, we travel to site again to calibrate the whole system to ensure that everything is at peak performance and handover the system to the customer. 

Modern Technology

Modern technology also means that many of the systems we fit have an ‘on-line’ control interface which means we can dial into the system wherever it is and check on system health and deal with any maintenance required. Part of our support package for a project such as this would also include physical visits from time to time to make sure the system is exactly as it should be and find out if there are updates the customer requires.
